In what has been seen as a unique initiative, Ayurveda and Allopathy, two completely different streams of medicine, have joined hands in the field of spinal injury treatment for the benefit of general public.
The Ayurveda Palms and Indian Spinal Injuries Center (ISIC) have tied-up to offer a new and effective method for treatment of spinal and orthopaedic ailments. Both the institutes have so far been practicing two completely different forms of medicine.
In brief, the treatment procedure involves treatment of patients undergoing advanced spinal and orthopaedic surgeries in the normal manner at the ISIC hospital, and thereafter being offered a range of natural and external therapies with natural ingredients, coupled with strict dietary measures of Ayurveda Palms, for speedy recovery.
Ayurveda Palms follows the practice of applying herbal pastes and yogic therapies for quick recovery of the patient, coupled with few ayurvedic therapies that are economically feasible, but as effective as allopathic medications.
The technique has been found useful for patients who prefer nature-based solutions to their spinal ailments. The technique is also applicable to patients who cannot undergo a surgery due to medical reasons.
Dr. Chitra Kataria, Head-Department, Rehabilitation, ISIC, says “With ayurvedic treatments having proven effective in all kinds of pain, including back, neck, knee, joint pain and arthritis, headache and post-surgery ailments, more people are now opting for this kind of supportive therapy.”
“Based on our experience, we feel that advanced surgeries are essential in treating spinal ailments, and this, coupled with natural forms of medicine such as Ayurveda, speeds up the rehabilitation process. We have associated with Ayurveda Palms aiming to amalgamate Western Science with Indian traditional medicine system, to cure the patient,” said Dr. HS Chhabra, Medical Director, ISIC.
“Not all patients are happy to undergo treatment through the allopathic process. Hence, with this initiative, they will have the option to choose between ayurvedic and allopathic treatment post-surgery, as per their wish,” he concluded.
Ayurveda Palms, established by Dr. Sangitha Khosla and Dr. Virje Bahai Khosla with head offices in Ooty, Tamil Nadu, India, uses alternative form of medicine devised in ancient India, several years ago. Ayurveda Palms follows external application and other treatment forms such as dietary control, meditation, yoga, and application of various medicinal pastes using the ‘palm’ of the human hand.
ISIC is the national leader in spinal cord injuries and the most advanced super specialty hospital-cum-rehab center in South Asia. Besides treating spinal disorders, it is equipped for complete healthcare.
