2Osteoarthritis is a kind of arthritis mainly involving bigger joints like knee joint. It is commonly seen in men over 40 yrs of age. Symptoms like morning stiffness especially after rest and at the onset of movements may be present. It is relieved by slow movement since the increased synovial secretion caused by movements lubricates the dry joint and relieves pain. Diminished joint space with Osteophytes can be seen in X-ray. Heberden’s nodes may be present. Osteoporosis is basically degeneration of bones.
