Children these days are being drawn to Ayurveda, with specially prepared Ayurvedic cookies, ketchups, biscuits and baby foods arriving at the market. By adopting such strategies, Ayurvedic practitioners are trying to instill the taste of health supplements and Ayurvedic medicines in the children at a young age.
Among the baby food varieties that has been introduced in the market, are Poshana, a healthy mix of pulses and cereals, and Kunnamkai, a plantain variety in Kerala. The Managing Director of Arya Vaidya Pharmacy Ltd (AVP) at Coimbatore, P R Krishna, mentions that, as the introduction of Chyavanprash for young kids seemed difficult, it was finally decided to bring out the product, packaged as cookies and biscuits, and it was a great hit.
