Brahmi Oil – Indian Pennywort Oil

Brahmi (Bacopa Monnieri) has remained the standard medicine of Ayurveda since the 6th century. It is particularly used as enhancer of mental health, as it boosts learning, memory and concentration abilities. It is also used in treating diseases of the nervous system.

According to researchers, the chemicals in Brahmi help in faster and smoother transmission of nerve impulses. Human studies have revealed that Brahmi works to reduce anxiety, while also boosting the ability to learn and retain information in children. A particular study also proved that use of Brahmi in epileptic seizures helped in reducing frequency of seizures over the years.

Brahmi oil (also known as Indian pennywort oil) is the popular oil used worldwide for a range of health issues including anxiety, tension, restlessness, hair fall, joint pain, and insomnia, apart from its memory boosting abilities. It is thought to make the brain more alert, sharp and accurate.

Brahmi oil is used for relaxing human senses, thereby easing the body and mind and revitalizing the senses. Brahmi oil is also commonly used as an antioxidant to improve brain cell functioning. The oil is directly added to bath water and can be constituted into a bath salt mixture. Else, it can be mixed with equal portion of synthetic emulsifier Polysorbate 20 to convert it into a water diffusing agent. Taking a bath with Brahmi oil at bed time helps in relaxing tired muscles of the body.

Brahmi oil is also used for improving the condition of hair. It is an effective anti-dandruff oil, prevents hair fall, premature greying, and fights alopecia, and is therefore used by several manufacturers when making hair treatment products including anti-dandruff hair shampoos and conditioners.

Brahmi oil massage is an excellent treatment for nervous exacerbation, helping the person calm down, preventing any other complications. Due to this calming property of the oil, it is also used in treating insomnia.

Massaging Brahmi oil also helps relieve swelling of joints, offering relief to acute rheumatic conditions and sprained limbs, it is also applied in treating the swellings of neck, and helps treat ulcers and wounds.
