Herbal remedies are a natural alternative, when it comes to maintaining one’s health. However, herbs, being equally powerful, if unsure about its effect on the body, then should be taken only on contacting a naturopathic physician.
Earaches, being one among the common complaints during childhood, are also the easiest to cure with natural home and herbal remedies. A few such remedies include:
Internally - Herbs such as Ribwort and Echinacea (can be used as tincture or infusion)
Goldenseal can be used as a tincture or capsule
Externally - Mullein – the infused oil can be used as ear drops.
Goldenseal – 10ml tincture can be added to 100ml water and the solution
can be used as eardrops.
Another remedy is to use garlic oil as ear drops. This can be made by crushing a garlic bulb in a small jar and then filling the jar with olive oil and allowing it to stay. In cases of emergency, it can be used after half an hour, else, can be made to sit for a day or more. When required, the oil can be warmed a little more than the room temperature, and can be applied to the affected ear by using a dropper. Plug the ear with a cotton ball. This can be applied several times a day.
In a similar manner, along with Garlic oil, St. Johnswort oil and Mullein oil can also be used for ear ache remedy. Grapefruit Seed Extract can also be mixed to the said mixture and can be used for external application using a dropper.
Also internal treatments for earache are recommended, which actually helps in boosting the immune system, while also using external applications. For instance, while using oils for external applications, internally a glass of orange juice, to which Echinacea tincture (a dropper full) or Grapefruit Seed Extract (3 drops) can be added and used as an herbal antibiotic!
