Flaxseed Oil found to prevent Cancer

Flaxseed (Linseed), the seed of the flax plant, contains plenty of fiber, Omega-3 fatty acid and a compound lignin.

Flaxseed oil extract, which is available even as capsules today, is beneficial in decreasing mild symptoms associated with menopause, and is a cure for Arthritis, and is also beneficial for those suffering from Cardiovascular diseases.

A group of researchers at the Maryland Medical Center Study have now discovered that the compound lignin, present in flaxseed oil, could possibly prevent Cancer.

It has also been found that an essential fatty acid, ALA (Alpha-linolenic acid), present in flaxseed oil, reduces cholesterol, and has lipid-lowering properties.

Though, no side effects of this oil have been reported, it is inadvisable for those suffering from blood disorders, as there is a risk of increased bleeding. Also pregnant women are advised against using flaxseed oil. Physicians also warn against use of flaxseed oil for those who are under blood-thinning and anti-coagulant medications.
