Fruits are wonderful gifts by nature to mankind. Fruit juices and fruits have been used since ages for treating several diseases. Traditional Ayurveda mostly emphasizes on using fruits for treating ailments.

Fruits have a high organic value, and due to the presence of Cellulose in abundance, they prevent constipation and help digestion. Fruits help in stimulation and strengthening of muscles of the digestive glands and also in stimulation of liver and pancreatic secretions, thereby helping in good digestion.

Being naturally high in nutritional value and fibre and low in fat content, fruits are the healthiest option one can count on, when it comes to dieting and controlling body weight. Apart from this, they also increase immunity to fight diseases and help to remain healthy and fit. While tomatoes have plenty of oxalates and are found to be effective in treating asthma and bronchitis, strawberries and oranges are good in treating patients with rheumatic arthritis.

While Banana and apples are high in iron content and therefore good for people suffering from anaemia, consuming citrus fruits enables iron absorption. In 1998, Dr.Adrian Barnett, in fact, developed Fructology (fruit signs) and science related to fructology called Fructitherapy (fruit based healing), by inter-linking the astrological personality of people with that of fruits. He and his team produced a fruit-sign chart for the benefit of people who wished to know themselves and the universe better, by taking into consideration the latitude and longitude and time at which different fruits are grown and their relative sun, star and moon signs. His theory was based on the idea that just like the influence of zodiac signs in defining different personality types, even a fruit-sign chart could be a base in indicating different personality types!!!
