Valerian is not advised for nursing women, pregnant women and children. Alsp people with chronic health conditions who are under medication for neurological disorders etc should consult a professional before starting on valerian supplement.
Other herbs such as lemon balm, Passion flower, Chamomile, Skullcap and Suma are also effective for treatment of anxiety.
Apart from herbal supplements, Aromatherapy is also recommended for Anxiety treatments. Plant essential oils can be added to baths, infusers or massage oils. A few drops of essential oils such as Bergamot, Cypress, Jasmine, Geranium, Melissa, Rose, Lavender, Sandalwood and ylang-ylang can be massaged into the temples and scalp at bedtime. Among the said herbs, Lavender is the most common form that serves as base for most relaxing blends.
