[tag]Mindfulness meditation[/tag] or [tag]Vipassana[/tag] or [tag]Insight meditation[/tag] is the art of becoming deeply conscious about the present instant. Mindfulness actually means experiencing the facts that occur at present. Mindfulness helps in relieving the mind of all feelings that upset the mind, like guilt, anger, uncertainties, suspicion etc.

The most important fact in this meditation technique is that the awareness that is brought about to each moment should be meditative, in the sense, it should be viewed passively without any judgments. However, this does not mean accepting or resigning to injustice or abuse. It helps an individual in realizing and accepting facts and not to respond on an impulse in a given situation, but to react in an effective manner.

Mindfulness meditation is classified as informal and formal. An example of formal meditation is [tag]yoga[/tag], where the participants are required to concentrate on postures and breathing while being aware about their feelings when doing the exercises. Mindfulness meditation requires practice, and with continuous practice, the process gets easier.

Informal mindfulness meditation involves transforming the plunge of day to day living into a compilation of experienced distinct moments each of which are fully savored. For example, when a fruit is offered to an individual who does not practice mindfulness meditation, the fruit may just be chewed and swallowed, while when offered to a person practicing mindfulness meditation, he will look at the color, size and texture of the fruit, relishing each bite focusing on its taste and texture. By bringing in mindfulness meditation to even small day to day activities like sipping a cup of tea, or starting a car, it is possible to work a plenty of [tag]heedful moments[/tag] every day.
