Moksha Yoga is a hot form of yoga that is popular in England, Asia and the US. It is ideal both for a beginner and a seasoned practitioner. Moksha Yoga comprises of a series of toning and strengthening postures in the calmness of a heated studio. It is an intense physical flow of postures done in a heated room within a temperature range of 38C and 41C (100-105F). The heat provides numerous advantages including detoxification of body, deep and safe stretching and a feeling of calmness and relaxation, in addition to toning and strengthening the muscles. Moksha Yoga combines the traditional aspects of yoga, alignment principles along with the advantage of the heated yoga room.

There are also various Moksha teacher training sessions offered abroad, for those who wish to practice as teachers and deepen their practice. The following series are included in Moksha Yoga practice.

Savasana (Corpse Pose) – This is considered as a starting pose, wherein one is required to lie flat with feet kept slightly separated and palms turned in upward direction. Relaxation is best practiced in this position, focusing on breathing.

Intention Setting – During this session, a goal or theme is set for the class, like for example focusing on the breath or building core abdominal muscles etc. This brings in an experience of hot yoga class in one’s focus.

Standing Series – involves a series of cardiovascular postures focusing on building balance, strength and endurance through practice of yoga postures in a heated room, done in a standing position. Each posture is held for a minute allowing the skin to sweat and detoxify.

Floor Series – This series basically helps in strengthening upper part of the body, abdominal muscles and the spine. Once the body is warmed up through the standing series, the focus is now on the spine and the hips. This series helps in relieving tension, knee pain, and lower back pain and improves posture.

Savasana (Corpse Pose)- Savasana is again performed during the end of the session by lying flat on the back. Once the body is warmed up and opened through the standing and floor series, it is now ready to be relaxed.

Hence on the whole, the practitioner feels relaxed at their own pace, and their internal system feels rejuvenated and stress levels are greatly reduced through this form of yoga.
