Backache is a common problem among people today, in particular, the women. It could result from adopting a bad posture for a long time, or due to excess strain and hard work.   • Try hip baths, alternating with cold and hot water to which Epsom salt is added. Continue this for half an hour with 5 minutes hot and 2 minutes cold water, several times.
  • The painful area can be given hot mud application, and incase of any inflammation, anthill mud can be mixed with water, heated, and applied to the painful area.
  • Aroma oils are always beneficial, when it comes to relieving pain. It can be used on its own, or mixed with vegetable oil. A drop of lavender oil can be used in a warm compress. It relieves spasms, soothes nervous system and is a good relaxant.
  • Sage can also be used for warm compress. It protects from fluid retention, and is beneficial for the endocrine system.
  • Lie down for an hour or two, placing a small pillow made of mustard seeds underneath the painful area.
  • Warm Poultices made of crushed linseed (tied in a cloth), would be of considerable relief. Remove it once it turns cold.
