Accumulated waste deprives the body of energy, and when the organs do not function well, the skin will look older than it should be, with more pimples, blemishes, and rashes. The best way to tackle this problem is to eliminate the toxins in the body, which keeps getting accumulated by the way. This can be done by keeping the colon and liver clean.

In short, the skin is a reflection of the functioning of colon, liver and lungs. When these organs are eliminating waste efficiently, the skin will look naturally younger. However, with age, it gets harder for the body to eliminate all the toxins absorbed from the food. This leads to overburdening of the colon, liver and kidneys. Therefore the skin draws these toxins to the surface, leading to skin problems.

A clean colon is the most effective way of keeping diseases at bay, while also bringing about a new radiance on the face. However, the concoctions used for this purpose should be carefully chosen, as most of them available in the market may contain harmful chemicals, warns Yogi Ashwini of Dhyan Foundation.

A completely natural preparation will help in yielding a squeaky-clean colon and small intestine, which also helps in tackling blood toxicity symptoms, such as pimples and skin eruptions, apart from reducing excess body fat.

Water is the best means of flushing toxins out of the body. Hence drinking about ten glasses of water a day is a must.

Drinking two glasses of hot water with a few drops of lemon juice and honey added to it for three months at a stretch helps serve this purpose. Such a routine, apart from cleansing intestines of ama (toxins), will also help in reducing fat when had after all meals. Old honey also helps remove non-essential fat.

When cleansing the colon, always remember to stay hydrated and eat properly. The ultimate colon cleanse, however, is a good diet of whole grains, fresh fruits, raw vegetables, and plenty of water.

Other safe natural colon cleansers are ingredients such as psyllium, flax seeds and benonite clay.

Psyllium is a natural, water-soluble, gel-reducing fiber, extracted from the husks of blond psyllium seeds (plantago ovate). About one or two tablespoons of psyllium are recommended once or twice a day with meals. However, it is better to begin with a lower dose and gradually work up to the recommended levels. One or two glasses of water should be had with each dose.

Experts recommend a blend of 2 to 5 tablespoons of flaxseed oil, with a cup of organic cottage cheese, and 1 to 3 tablespoons of freshly ground up flaxseeds, and a little Cayenne pepper, with a little water added to it for a soft texture. This mixture could be made a part of regular diet.
