Be it pollution, stress, or examination tension, there are enough reasons due to which you could end up with ‘dark circles’ or ‘puffy eyes. Fortunately, there are simple remedies to treat your eyes too, so that you don’t need to run to saloon or visit a cosmetologist immediately. You can sit at the comfort of your home, and see to it that your eyes maintain their ‘sparkle’, the easy way.
The common advice given by one and all is to cool and relax one’s eye with slices of cucumber placed over the eyelids, or a few drops of coconut oil massaged around the eyes to banish those dark spots.
However, dance trainer, Mischa George, adds another tip “When one runs out of time for face-packs, use an under-eye concealer, the best option for a business meeting or an interview. A solution of glycerine and lemon juice, when applied around the eyes removes dark circles. Also, cotton pads soaked in cold milk, when placed over the eyelids helps cool the eyes.”
Her colleague, Kim, adds “A mixture of saffron and honey applied over the eyes too, can do a world of good. Tired eyes can be easily treated by washing the face with salt water solution.”
Washing face with rosewater each night refreshes the eyes and removes puffiness from eyelids. A thin coat of castor oil applied at bed time helps in gaining long eyelashes.
Karuna Rampal, a fashion designing student, adds another tip, “Baggy or puffy eyes can be treated by placing ice cubes on them.”
Keerthana Suryaprakash, Nutritionist, says “One should reduce the salt intake in the diet considerably, as excess salt could lead to water retention, which results in puffy eyes.”
“Most people tend to doze off while studying. However, those who wear contact lenses should ensure that they take them off before sleeping, as this could result in puffy eyes,” says Sonu Mathai, an Ophthalmologist.
A Home-Science student, Dhruvika Singh, suggests including ‘amla’ in one’s diet, as it helps in brightening tired eyes.
Here are a few other tips that could be followed to rejuvenate your eyes:
- Eat plenty of green leafy vegetables and Carrot. Ensure that the diet is rich in Vitamins A, B and C. Drink plenty of water for purifying the body system.
- Try to stick-on to user-friendly make up, and ensure that you remove it before retiring to bed. This practice could go a long way in preventing burning eyes, sore, and allergies.
- Sleep away your worries. It is vital that you get those eight hours of sleep, which will leave you feeling revitalized, which in turn, would reflect in your sparkling eyes!
