Simple Ayurveda and Herbal remedies for Flu

Manage the flu with these easily do-able ayurvedic and herbal remedies.

  • Indulge in a steaming hot bath (to which a few drops of Tea-tree and Eucalyptus oils) are added. The essential oils, combined with steam help unblock stuffy sinuses and boosts immunity.
  • Hot herbal teas are very soothing and cleansing for the throat. The Cinnamon, Vanilla and Berry blend can do wonders. In case there is no instant access for these herbs, squeeze a few drops of lemon juice into boiling water, add honey and a slice of ginger, and drink the solution. Honey, with its antibacterial properties prevents infection and is soothing for the throat.
  • Essential oils, in particular Eucaplyptus, Tea-tree, Thyme, Peppermint and Lavender help in driving out the flu. Echinacea, being a blood purifying herb, is also an effective antibiotic. It stimulates the immune system, fighting off influenza and common cold. Steam inhalations of these essential oils are an effective way in dealing with colds, painful sinuses and influenza
  • Also, avoid heavy diets, and drink plenty of fluids along with regular doses of herbal teas.

Since, the body knows whats best for it, it is sure to listen.

  1. Thyme is a great herb for flu relief – in fact it was once sometimes referred to as a “life giving” herb because it can provide relief to so many ailments. It’s reputed to be particularly good for headaches, tonsillitis and even asthma. Oh – and it tastes great in your favorite beef recipes too!

    You can grow thyme right in your garden along with your other plants and have some on hand for whatever ails you.
