Vata skin types can maintain a youthful skin by nourishing their skin with herbs and essential oils, and keeping the skin hydrated. Else, it could be vulnerable to formation of wrinkles and tends to show signs of ageing faster.
The vata skin type needs a nourishing diet and hence more of whole grains, organic milk, and green leafy vegetables should be added to regular diet. Drinking lukewarm water and fruit juices everyday, which helps in flushing out the toxins apart from keeping the skin hydrated is another important step towards vata skin care. Ghee or olive oil can be added to daily diet for internal lubrication. For external lubrication of skin, a body and face massage with warm oil is suggested. A gentle moisturizer can be used twice a day. Even for cleansing the face, only a gentle cleanser should be used and splashing water several times during face wash, will keep it hydrated.
Besides eating regular meals on time, having sufficient sleep and avoiding physical and emotional stress also reflects itself on one’s skin. Mental stress dries out the moisture in the skin making it more prone to wrinkles and fine lines. Excess emotional stress can result in the skin getting more prone to acne and sun sensitivity. Over doing physical exercises will also make the skin rough, dry and patchy, though the right amount of physical exercise will help increase blood circulation and maintains the healthiness of the skin.
