[tag]Sweat treatment[/tag] is used for flushing the toxins from the body through the skin pores by way of sweat. Sweat is generated either by a steam bath, use of heavy clothes or blankets, fasting, or by external or internal heat application. According to [tag]Ayurveda[/tag], the doshas in the body are drained out in the form of fluid through the sweat glands. Swedana is also the ayurvedic treatment used for skin revitalizing.
External Heat is produced by medicated steam baths, sunbathing, use of infra red lamps, hot showers, hot packs, exercise, fasting, heavy clothing etc. The herbs used for this treatment are castor root, black gram, sesame, barley, drumstick plant, jujube, etc.
Various herbs and medicated powders are used in herbal preparations which are warmed in medicated oils and massaged into the body. This promotes perspiration resulting in elimination of toxins and improving skin tone. Further, steam baths using aromatic oils are given to increase perspiration. Hence, apart from [tag]elimination of toxins[/tag], [tag]Swedana[/tag] is considered as an excellent treatment for improving and revitalizing the skin.
Therapeutic sweating is not done for patients with jaundice, diarrhea, [tag]anemia[/tag], [tag]bleeding disorders[/tag], obese people, nausea, fever and pregnant women.
