Various researches have shifted the spotlight to a new generation of health-boosting foods, most of which though common, are very effective in preventing illness.
Tomato – Should get its due and be included in our day to day diet due to its benefits of preventing frequent migraines, as they are rich in riboflavins. Research conducted at the Havard school of Public Health have revealed that women who had more than seven servings of tomato based foods were 32% less prone to cardiovascular diseases. Also several studies have indicated that as tomatoes contain high antioxidant lycopene, they provide sufficient protection against prostrate cancer, cutting down the risk by 11%.
Walnuts – They are the healthiest nuts ever. Other than improving metabolism and helping in better sleep, about twenty years of study on 80,000 women for the Nurses’ Health Study conducted at the US, has revealed that women who ate a minimum of 28 walnuts a week are 25% less likely to develop gallstones in future. Recent researches (published in the Nutrition Journal Penn State) mentions that walnuts, being rich in ALA (Alphalinolenic acid) are excellent for the skeletal system, decreasing the likelihood of bone breakdown.
