Traditional remedies for treating recurring Urinary Tract Infections

The saddening aspect of the common urinary tract infections (UTI) are that, they keep recurring. Although, doctors prescribe antibiotics, the bacteria that cause the infection, can outsmart drugs, making them less effective. To find a more long lasting solution, try the following options.

Eucalyptus Essential Oil: A few drops of this can be mixed with olive or almond oil and massaged into the lower abdomen, hips and lower back, twice a day. This could be done after a morning bath and once in the evening. Massage until u feel relieved. It could take a few days to two weeks.

Lavender Essential Oil: Add ten drops of lavender essential oil to lukewarm water, and sit on it for 5 to 10 minutes.

Barley: Drink Barley water or plantain-stem juice atleast once a day to flush out toxins.

Mud Pack: Apply mud pack on lower abdomen and leave on for half-an-hour. This will relieve the burning sensation.

Kidney Pack: Place hot water bag on lumbar region, and ice bag on abdomen. Tie them to the body with a cotton cloth and cover with a flannel sheet. Wait for 20 minutes in this position, and repeat twice a day.

Yoga: Yogic postures such as Ardh Matysender Asana (spinal twist) and Sarvangasana (Shoulder stand) helps in massaging the internal organs, gets rid of toxins, while also providing relief from UTIs and diabetes.

Dietary changes: Drink three to four glasses of tender coconut water, seasoned with cardamom powder. Drink as much water as possible. Eat plenty of vegetables and fruits to build up immunity. Avoid drinking tea and coffee, as these could irritate urinary tract.
