Tulasi is an ayurveda herb used as a cough medicine in the Far East, as a de-worming by Africans and Americans use it to soothe head aches.

Tulasi is a good [tag]appetizer[/tag], antibacterial, antiseptic, carminative, antispasmodic and stomachic. The tea made of Tulasi is used in curing dysentry, nausea, and fever. Apart from this Tulasi is used in combination with other [tag]herbs[/tag] in treating colds, coughs and headaches, vomiting, gastric problems, constipation, whooping cough, lung problems, arthritis, nasal congestion, memory loss, sinus congestion and lung problems. It is said to relieve depression and is anti-poisonous.

Tulasi is believed to help oxygenation of body and is a brain and nerve tonic. Tulasi has been particularly found useful in arresting morning sickness and travel sickness.

One teaspoon of dried herb can be dissolved in half a cup of water and sweetened with honey if necessary and consumed frequently throughout the day for relief from cough.

A sprig of Tulasi can be kept in the wardrobe to keep moths and insects away, as it has the property to repel mosquitoes and flies.
