Different [tag]rejuvenation therapies[/tag] are used for different treatments.
A few rejuvenation therapies that are used for treating various diseases are is given below:
Dhara – Used for treating [tag]chronic headaches[/tag], mental tension, hysteria, insomnia, and insanity. In this process, [tag]herbal oils[/tag], buttermilk, herbal decoctions or medicated milk is continuously poured over the forehead or the entire body with the patient lying supine in a wooden bed with head and neck placed in a relaxed position. A few such dharas include Takra dhara (for chronic headache, insanity and memory loss), Sarvanga dhara (for entire body and head) and Ordhwanga Dhara (for eye, skin and ear disorders).
Snehapanam - A process where medicated ghee is given to the patient internally with the quantity being increased gradually after a specific period. Used in treating Osteoarthritis and [tag]Leukemia[/tag].
Pizhichil - a process in which warm herbal oil is rubbed into all parts of the body with fresh linen by trained professionals in a particular manner for about an hour or two for seven days or more. This helps in treating Spondilosis, Arthritis, Nervous disorders, [tag]Paralysis[/tag] etc.
Udvarthanam – a process in which the entire body is massaged using herbal powders. Used in treating Paralysis, Obesity and Rheumatic diseases.
Marma Chikitsa – is used for treating musculoskeletal diseases or injuries caused due to accidents. The treatment works on major sensitive areas of the body.
Njavarkizhi – is used for treating rheumatism, joint pains, sports injuries, and certain skin conditions. The entire body is massaged with medicated oil and then perspiration is induced by external application of rice packs (Njavara) that are medicated. The rice packs are in the form of small round balls, tied in a muslin cloth. This also helps in skin rejuvenation.
Sirovasti – is used for treating dry nostrils, throat and mouth, chronic headache and [tag]facial paralysis[/tag]. In this process warm herbal oils are poured over the head for specific durations through a leather cap that is fixed on the head.
Elakizhi (for improving skin tone and rejuvenating the skin), Karnapoornam (used for treating [tag]ear ailments[/tag]), Tharpanam (for strengthening vision), Nasyam (used for treating cold, sinusitis and migraine) are few other rejuvenation therapies.
