[tag]Ulcerative colitis[/tag] is an inflammatory bowel disease and is characterized by ulceration and inflammation in the inner lining of rectum and colon. The inflammation initially affects the rectum and then moves upward to the colon. Ulcerative Colitis seldom affects the small intestine. It generally affects people of age groups 15 to 40 and runs as a hereditary disease in some families.
Though the exact cause of the disease is unknown, [tag]food allergies[/tag], autoimmune factors, [tag]genetic disorders[/tag], [tag]collagen disorders[/tag] are all considered to trigger the process of inflammation. The engorged and swollen bowel becomes weak and tends to ulcerate causing a break in the mucosal barrier. [tag]Intestinal bacteria[/tag] and other digestive enzymes act further on this exposed tissue resulting in inflammation, further irritation and bleeding.
From an Ayurvedic perspective people of pitta constitution has a tendency to develop this disease. All factors that further aggravate the [tag]pitta dosha[/tag] like excessive sun exposure or heat, indulging in arguments often, excessive smoking and alcohol, [tag]irregular eating habits[/tag] and eating stale, infected and sour foods aggravates the condition causing bloody diarrhea.
An [tag]ayurvedic treatment[/tag] mentioned below is said to have successfully cured several cases of ulcerative colitis. The treatment consist of two ulcerin compounds namely ulcerin compound I and ulcerin compound II.
Ulcerin compound I is a powder made of herbs such as Holarrehna antidysentrica, Bombax malbaricum, Aegle marmelos, Woodfordia floribunda, and Cyperus rotundus.
Ulcerin Compund II is a capsule made of Cryophyllus aromaticus, Cyperus rotundus, Azadirachta indica, Withania somnifera, Myristica officinalis, Boswellia serrata and Bombax malbaricum.
These ulcerin compounds are said to have stopped bleeding, reduced the inflammation and blocked the intestinal wall leakage in patients with this disease. In addition to improving the immune function through improved digestion, these Compounds re-builds and protects the inner lining of the intestines.
